Where there is planing... there is also milling! ;)
Using the combined jointer and thickness planer as well as the stationary table router, you will process raw solid wood in this course and learn the techniques of wood milling. The jointer and thickness planer help straighten crooked and rough-sawn solid wood and bring it to a uniform thickness. All sides are processed to ensure parallel surfaces and a smooth finish. Afterwards, the wood materials are profiled using the router.
In the "Planing and Milling for Beginners" course, each participant will mill, saw, drill, and sand their own wine bottle holder made from spruce wood. Physical forces allow the bottle to appear as if it is floating!
After completing the course, you will be able to perform the following woodworking tasks on your own:
Prepare raw solid wood so you can further process it for your projects
Straighten and smooth wood surfaces
Create functional or decorative profiles through milling (e.g., interlocking profiles for gluing, edge rounding, chamfers, handrails, etc.)
Build or refine solid wood furniture (tables, benches, etc.)
This course is a prerequisite for independently using the machines in the MakerSpace!
