No welding, no winning!

In welding, you melt metal using the heat of the electric arc and then join it together. The steel wire (wire electrode) used in the process serves as both the electrode and the filler material (weld metal). To protect the molten material from damage, it is shielded from the surrounding air by a protective gas. Depending on the type of metal, different methods are used – Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding or Metal Active Gas (MAG) welding. In the MakerSpace, only the mixed gas Corgon is available, which means MIG welding is not possible here.

In this safety and basic functionality course, you will learn the safe operation of the MIG/MAG welding machine with shielding gas.
