The sand-mould or sand casting process works on the principle of the lost mould, meaning that the mould is discarded after single use to release the casten metal. In this course, you will be introduced to sand casting and learn how to operate our chamber furnaces.

Learn the Sand Casting Basics!

In this safety and introductory course, you will gain hands-on experience with sand casting and learn how to operate the Rohde ME 65/13 and ME 20/13 chamber furnaces.

The sand casting process can be combined with various MakerSpace machines, such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC milling machines, to create high-quality moulds ranging from simple to complex designs.

During the course, you will independently create a sand mould and cast a (useful) aluminium workpiece, which you can take home at the end.

 

This course is a prerequisite for independently using the machines in MakerSpace!

English language skills

Closed shoes must be worn at all times in the workshop. Failure to comply will result in denied access to MakerSpace.
